    Hi Reuben,

Can you give me some examples of comments you might include?

We previously had a notes feature, but removed this feature after finding most customers were not using it or were letting the information get out-of-date because they didn't have system for managing it.

We've been exploring a replacement feature we are calling "connector tags" that would allow centrally-managed tags to be added to the connector (e.g. "P1", "prod", "test") instead. Would this solve your use case?

Hello Lyndsey, We create and manage a lot of connectors in our company. There are 2 main uses for comments that i had requested.

    1. Each connector that we create for a business or a sub-business line, we want to mention the project code on it. So that the billing can be managed accordingly on the connector level. We dont want to split it on destinations as we would end up with multiple destinations  per env(dev/tst/uat/prod) per sub-business level. The tags concept you mentioned below, would definitely help in this case. One of my colleagues had raised this request couple of years back:

    2. The connectors that are being created are becoming hard to manage with time, as we end up losing track of why the connector was built years back and the comments section will help reduce overhead of trying to manage that information separately. Using which we can provide a short description for each connector.

Most importantly the tags or comments functions being implemented, should have a way to passing that information to the fivetran platform connector, so that we can use it to query in the backend.

Thanks for linking that other ticket. That is exactly what we are looking to build.

We have not had many requests related to tagging (possibly due to its more advanced nature), but we see the value and are actively considering its implementation. We are hoping to release something along these lines within the year.

On the comments feature, we do not currently have plans to look into this. I will let you know if that changes.

Hello Lyndsey, Could you please help on the status for the tags based feature?

    Hi Reuben,

We are launching a first iteration of this in the next month or two, which will allow you to tag defined values related to environment for connectors & destinations. We may add a few additional key value pairs like priority to this release too.

We are still considering more customized tagging (where you could define key value pairs for connectors & destinations), but this is not yet scheduled for release.

    Best,

    Lyndsey
