Connector Improvement: GA4 connector to fetch correct weekly and monthly users (count distinct)
CompletedHey,
for reporting purposes on Google Analytics 4 data, we regularly need to fetch weekly and monthly users for our clients that work with fivetran. Currently the Google analytics 4 connector has date as required dimension. Adding date to a custom report will split out users by day where the sum of this is always higher than what is shown in the UI where it is a distinct count of users by week or month.
In order to provide this highly requested KPI it would be necessary to either provide a standard report to pick or to make date non-mandatory in the custom report section. It would fully suffice from our end, if there is a premade report in the GA4 connector that lets you fetch either weekly or monthly users for any given (ISO-)week or month. If no user ID is available in GA4 raw data there is regularly a column user_pseudo_id in the google analytics exports we use, that let's you get to the number needed.
I am happy to support you on this with more insights if needed.
Cheers
Konstantin

Hi All,
Just wanted to post here to close this thread. Our GA4 connector (along with some other reporting connectors) now support custom aggregation levels on custom reports.
- Go the the setup form for GA4, click the button that says "+ Custom report"
- In the drawer that pops in from the right side, there is a field titled "Aggregate (optional)"
- Pick from the options in this dropdown (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly). You can also leave this blank and create a time-aggregation-less report.
Hope this helps you all or others that have this issue!

I really need this feature as well.

I also have this issue. This really makes us unlikely to use the GA4 connector, as we need to summarize by month for our executive dashboards. Getting the counts by day makes it impossible to get the counts by month, since the same user is included multiple times. For now, we'll be turning the connector off and having to access the GA4 data directly through their interface.
