    Hello Shubhankar!

    I'm Kevin from the product team for our database connectors. As you mentioned, we do currently require LogMiner to be configured in order for our Oracle connector to read from the database. We do have a new feature called Oracle Teleport, which will allow you to read changes to databases without configuring LogMiner. However, it does still require some config on the database side.

    Could you ask your Oracle database team if the following permissions would be acceptable to be granted to a Fivetran user on the Oracle database?

    GRANT CREATE TYPE TO FIVETRAN;
    GRANT CREATE PROCEDURE TO FIVETRAN;

    You can learn more about our Teleport feature here: https://fivetran.com/docs/databases#fivetranteleportsyncprivatepreview

    More broadly, it would also help to understand what level of access your team has to the Oracle system to see if we could support it in other ways as well!

    Otherwise, if this is not possible, our best approach might be an application connector to read from Crunch Time. I don't have a timeline for that at the moment, but I will be sure to inform our product manager who works on the operations use case.

    Thanks Kevin,

    Can I ask why we require the following permissions

    GRANT CREATE TYPE TO FIVETRAN;
    GRANT CREATE PROCEDURE TO FIVETRAN;

    Because as per the documentation you only require a read only SQL connection.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately it seems this documentation is incorrect for Oracle. Looking at the history, this was borrowed from the MySQL section (which does not require additional privileges). For Oracle database, because of differences in the database, these 2 permissions are currently required.

    We are exploring ways to implement Teleport without these permissions, but it will be additional time on our side before we can build this.
