Urgent - Cost Control
I have an urgent issue. Today one of my connectors (QuickBooks) had a MAR spike of about 30,000%. Fivetran synced roughly 900K rows instead of the usual ~100, and that has caused a large, unexpected jump in my bill.
Until now I believed I had our costs under control. I check how much data is transferred each day, and when a table gets too large I exclude it. My clients connect all their data to us through Fivetran, so being able to predict costs is critical for our business.
This incident shows that even with cost alerts in place, a change on the connector side can trigger a massive sync without warning. I end up paying a very large amount for data I never needed.
I need help with two things:
- Early warning: a way to be notified before an unusual volume like this is synced, not after.
- A hard spending cap: a way to cap spend per connector or per account, so syncs pause automatically when a limit is reached instead of running up the bill.
To be honest, this has seriously shaken my confidence in continuing with Fivetran. Right now I have no way to know whether another connector could produce a bill like this on any given day. I’d appreciate a quick response.
Best regards,
Bernhard
