New Connector: Build connector to Amazon Athena
We have a few clients who's digital products (apps) store their data in Athena. We connect to these on our end with ODBC connectors but would prefer to do this through Fivetran if we could. This would be a massive win for us if we could use your tool for our data onboarding here.

Hi Matt,
Thank you for sharing this request with us. We don't currently have this on our roadmap, can you share a little more about when customers store data in Athena versus one of the other underlying Amazon services?
Best regardsAlison

I can provide a use case. AWS's charges for the services consumed by a given customer are available by the customer in Athena. We currently have to use Qlik Sense to consume and aggregate the data into a reportable format within Qlik Sense itself. It would be much easier to connect Fivetran to Athena and extract & load into our Snowflake repository.

To Alison's question:
Sure, some app developers (including one of our clients) only knows / interacts with their app's data through Athena. Its true that Athena leverages AWS (S3) to do storage behind the scenes, but it's pretty abstracted away and getting the typical ARN access isn't very straightforward and from a dev perspective. It would be a lot easier for a service provider like Bonsai to interact with the data on our DW through an Athena connector, because our solutions will always live on top of their app data.
