Connector Improvement: Sendgrid sg_machine_open flag
Hi there!
We just got an update about tracking of emails on apple devices (see below). We use the Sendgrid connector, but it looks like you guys don't support sg_machine_open flag with the connector. Is it possible to add this to the sendgrid integration? Thanks!
From Twilio's blog post:
When an [Apple] mailbox receives a message, the Mail application fetches the message (and all the images in it). This fetching doesn’t necessarily happen immediately at the time of delivery, but the message and its contents will be fetched, causing the tracking pixel to fire. This tracking pixel displays to the sender that the message has been opened. However, in reality, it’s still sitting unread in the user’s inbox.
Sendgrid thankfully will start identifying opened email events from their webhook with a sg_machine_open flag. This means we can filter out any Opened Emails from Sendgrid that have that flag as true so we can trust the original opened email events (where that flag is false).
Though doesn't look like Fivetran supports that new field yet: https://fivetran.com/docs/applications/sendgrid
