Connector Improvement: Shopify subscriptions

Hi,

in January 2021, Shopify introduced a subscription API / native subscriptions. We are in the process of migrating our shop to take advantage of this API. However, Fivetran doesn't yet support syncing of the relevant objects yet.

As you might imagine, having this data is very important for us. Without it, we can't do basic customer analysis (retention, LTV, etc.). Are there plans on integrating the new objects to the Shopify model? If so, when will it be shipped? If not, can you please add it to the development pipeline?

    Hi everyone, Calvin from the Product team here!

    We are planning to add support for Shopify subscriptions in our Q3 (begins August). I'll update here once this dataset is available.

    Hi Milan,

    Thanks for the request! We haven't heard much demand for this yet, but I can easily imagine it becoming important to sync Subscription data. We'll take a look and find a place for it on our backlog. I'll share updates here as we have them!

    This is very very important to anybody using subscriptions on Shopify. I have been asking for this feature for a while now. Do you have any update on when you might support this?

    Our business is using Shopify Subscriptions, and this data will be necessary to have within our databases. Is there an update as to when this feature will be prioritized/completed?

    Hi Everyone,

    Thank you for the feature request.

    Unfortunately, according to the latest we heard from Shopify, their Subscription API has a limitation where subscriptions can only be accessed by the app that created them. This restriction ensures that different sales channel apps (e.g., Amazon and Walmart) cannot access each other's subscription data for competitive reasons.

    As our Fivetran public app is not used to create subscriptions and is only used to read customer data, we are unable to access or sync subscription data from Shopify. We've also conducted a competitor analysis and found that other leading ETL providers face the same limitation.

    We can revisit this in the future in case there are any updates from Shopify.
