Extend the existing 14-day free usage window to also cover historical backfills for tables
Fivetran currently offers new connectors a 14-day free usage period following the initial historical sync, giving customers time to backfill data and validate the connection before incurring charges. However, this courtesy does not extend to individual tables within an existing connector.
I hope Fivetran could allow a free historical backfill window for tables that are newly activated within an existing connector, where the table was previously set to inactive. A reasonable grace period might be 90 days to 1 year of historical data during which the backfill rows are not counted toward billing.
I set up a connector approximately four years ago and, at the time, determined I did not need a particular table. My requirements have since changed, and I now need that table, which might have 50M+ historical rows. Under the current model, my only cost-free option is to create a duplicate connector to take advantage of the new connector free window. This is a functional workaround, but it is inconvenient. Customers should not have to duplicate connectors just to manage cost on a single table activation.
This change would reward long-term customers who want to expand their usage within existing connectors. It aligns with the spirit of the existing new-connector grace period, and would reduce the incentive to create redundant connectors as a billing workaround.
