Feature Request – Fivetran API Health and Latency Monitoring
Hi Team,
We would like to raise a feature request for proactive monitoring of Fivetran API availability and response latency.
Our monitoring platform, Gatus, is used to proactively monitor the availability and performance of critical APIs. We would like to extend this capability to Fivetran so that we can detect API availability or latency issues before they impact downstream data pipelines.
Feature Request
We would like Fivetran to provide a dedicated API health/monitoring endpoint that can be periodically queried by monitoring tools such as Gatus.
Ideally, the endpoint should:
- Return a clear HTTP status indicating API availability.
- Be lightweight and safe for frequent read-only polling.
- Provide a reliable response-time measurement that can be used for API latency monitoring.
- Have clearly documented authentication and minimum required permissions.
- Have documented rate limits and recommended polling intervals.
- Provide a recommended API latency threshold or SLA that customers can use as a baseline for alerting.
- Ideally provide sufficient information to distinguish between general Fivetran API availability issues and service degradation.
Monitoring Use Case
Our intended implementation would be:
Gatus → Fivetran Health Endpoint → Availability & Response-Time Monitoring → Alert
For example, Gatus would periodically invoke the endpoint and trigger an alert if:
- The endpoint is unavailable.
- An unexpected HTTP status code is returned.
- Response latency remains above the recommended threshold for a sustained period.
We would also appreciate guidance on whether Fivetran provides any existing monitoring metrics, health indicators, or APIs that could be used for this purpose instead of introducing a new endpoint.
If a dedicated health endpoint is not currently available, we would appreciate Fivetran's recommendation for the most appropriate existing API endpoint for implementing this type of proactive monitoring.
The objective is to establish an officially supported and reliable mechanism for monitoring Fivetran API availability and latency and to identify potential Fivetran-side issues proactively before they result in downstream failures.
Please consider this as a feature enhancement request and let us know if there is an existing or planned capability that addresses this use case.
Regards,
Harshada
