Support OAuth for Confluent's Schema Registry
PlannedWhich connector?:
Confluent
Additional details:
Fivetran currently supports OAuth for the Confluent Cloud broker connection, but authentication for Schema Registry still requires Schema Registry API credentials.
Confluent's Schema Registry can also work with OAuth. See: https://docs.confluent.io/platform/current/schema-registry/security/oauth-schema-registry.html
At my current company Confluent's Schema Registry ONLY works with OAuth :(
We request to implement OAuth for Confluent's Schema Registry, otherwise we are unable to use Fivetran for consuming events from Confluent.

Hi Gustavo, thank you for filing this! Quick question which will help us evaluate the request: does the Schema Registry use the same OAuth client/identity pool as the Kafka broker connection, or is it configured with a separate identity pool/client credentials?
Best,

In our case, we are using the same OAuth client/identity pool as the Kafka broker connection, but Confluent can work with one OAuth configuration for the broker and another different one for the Schema Registry. Confluent supports both options.

Thank you, Gustavo. We've added this to our short term roadmap and will keep you posted on when it becomes available.
Best,
Parmeet
