Replication from contained availability groups

Replication from a SQL Server 2022 Contained Availability Group (CAG) using Fivetran SAAS. The Contained Availability Group includes its own contained master and msdb databases. Fivetran Support has confirmed that Contained Availability Groups are not currently fully supported/tested by HVR. At present, the Archive Only capture method is the supported approach for this configuration; Direct and SQL access methods are not officially supported for the Contained Availability Group.Could we achieve this  using SAAS?

    Hi Aditya,

    Thanks for reaching out and for sharing details on your SQL Server configuration. HVA SQL Server is slated to reach EoL by March 2027; I'd suggest using the Binary Log Reader update method in the SQL Server connection instead.

    That said, we do not currently officially support Contained Availability Groups when reading from the online transaction log. Our initial analysis suggests it's likely to work, and we're working on validating this to give you a definitive answer.

    In the meantime, if your database is in full recovery mode and backups are available in native SQL Server format, I'd suggest using Backup mode with the SQL Server Binary Log Reader as your path forward.
