SAP CRM connector
AnsweredWhich application or service?: SAP CRM
What type of connector? (SaaS, Database, File or Event Source):
Database Connector
Additional details:
We would need to connect to SAP CRM and perform extraction to multiple tables (to be defined). Is building such a connector in the roadmap (or not)
Additionally, I have 2 more related questions:
1. Extraction via Odata (in Beta) doesn't mention if the extraction would be feasible on SAP CRM? Will this work? If yes, when will Beta change into production?
2. SDK development: is this feasible on SAP CRM? What would be a 'normal' lead/dev time to set this up to extract eg 1 table?
Thanks for your help.
Kind regards,
Bart

Hi Bart,
Thank you for reaching out.
SAP CRM typically runs on a database backend such as Oracle or SAP HANA. The best Fivetran approach depends on which database your SAP CRM system is using and how you are able to access it.
If your SAP CRM system runs on SAP HANA, we may be able to use our SAP ERP on HANA connector to extract data from the underlying HANA tables, including CRM-related tables, provided they are accessible through the supported extraction method.
If your SAP CRM system runs on Oracle, the HVA SAP ECC connector may be an option, as it supports Oracle as a source and can replicate the required tables. We would need to validate the exact setup and table requirements to confirm this.
In both scenarios, the approach would be based on table-level extraction rather than a dedicated SAP CRM connector.
As for your other questions:
SAP OData (Beta)
OData exposes data through SAP’s application layer, rather than directly from the database. As SAP CRM has a Netweaver (ABAP server) application stack it should be possible to expose objects. Not sure if the old SAP CRM comes out of the box with the huge number of CDS views which makes OData a good options in other use cases.
At this stage, we do not have a GA date to share for the SAP OData connector.
Connector SDK
Yes, this could be feasible. If the relevant OData services are available for the data you need, the Connector SDK lets you build a custom extractor. As a rough indication, a single-table proof of concept can often be built in a few hours, but probably the OData connector would be a better choice as it would work out of the box.
Maybe it would be best to discuss this in a call if it needs more explanation.
Best regards,
Edwin

Hello Edwin,
Thanks for your reply.
Our CRM is non HANA (that I know). I assume it is Oracle but I am awaiting confirmation.
A call would be indeed a better option.
Would early next week be an option. E.g on Monday I am pretty flexible.
Thanks

Hi Edwin,
Apologies, I apparently got it wrong.
We are running on HANA. So I would need assurance if the SAP ERP on HANA connector would work.
I will reply on a mail in which apparently you are included to further align.
Kind regards,
Bart
