Live SAP Table Row Count Visibility Before Sync
AnsweredWe would like to request a feature in Fivetran SAP connectors that provides the live row count of SAP tables before enabling or syncing them.
Current Challenge:
When onboarding SAP tables into Fivetran, it is difficult to estimate the actual table size prior to synchronization. This creates uncertainty in:
- Scope planning
- Sync duration estimation
- Infrastructure/storage impact
- Identifying very large tables that may require special handling in our destination
Requested Enhancement:
Provide a pre-sync metadata capability that displays:
- Live row count of SAP tables
Expected Benefits:
- Better scoping and prioritization of SAP table onboarding
- Easier identification of large vs small tables
- Improved planning for historical syncs
- Reduced risk of unintentionally syncing massive tables
Example Use Case:
Before adding SAP tables into the connector scope, users can quickly evaluate whether a table contains thousands, millions, or billions of rows and make informed onboarding decisions accordingly.
This would significantly improve usability and planning for SAP integrations in Fivetran.

Hi Shafi,
An interesting idea, providing row counts in the (SAP) schema browser. We will examine how this would be possible without impacting usability or footprint. One thing that is already clear is that we would use SAP's own row-count estimates, as live queries can put stress on the system and cause delays. Would that work?
Best regards,
Edwin
