New Connector: Feature Request – Support for Salesforce Marketing Cloud Sandbox
AnsweredCurrent Limitation
At the moment, the Fivetran SFMC connector appears to support only production SFMC instances. Salesforce, however, provides Sandbox Business Units (SBUs) specifically intended for development, QA, and UAT testing. These environments are increasingly used by enterprise customers for safe, isolated development and integration testing before promoting configurations to production.
Requested Capabilities
We request that Fivetran enable the following:
- Ability to authenticate and connect to SFMC Sandbox Business Units using typical SFMC OAuth 2.0 client credentials.
- Ability to configure separate connectors per environment (Dev, QA, UAT).
- Support for standard objects and data extensions in Sandbox environments identical to production.
- Clear documentation indicating how to distinguish and configure sandbox vs production connections.
- Ability to run syncs, schema scans, and test transformations in sandbox.
Impact
Lack of sandbox support delays our development cycle and forces us to test in production, which is not ideal for enterprise data governance and compliance.

Hi Pradeep,
Abdul from the Product team here. Thanks for flagging this. Sandbox support for SFMC is a reasonable ask - we know a lot of enterprise teams rely on sandbox environments for dev and QA, and having to test in production isn't ideal.
We've added this to our roadmap. Prioritization will depend on demand - so upvotes and comments on this thread from other customers go a long way in helping us move it up!
Will keep this thread updated as we make progress.
