Connector Improvement: Oracle HVA connector fails when new columns are added to tables with extended data types.
AnsweredOur core/main datasource is Oracle and we have DG enabled. So, HVA connectors go to the active DG database to extract. There are some tables that include extended data types which are not enabled to ingest in Fivetran schema, but even in those cases when a new column is added to one of these tables the connector fails and we can't run incremental syncs we have to run a historical sync. I created a case for this and support team told me that this more than a bug is a limitation of the HVA connector for Oracle. In production we can't run historical syncs every time this happens, this cause delays to our business users. Can the Oracle HVA connector be improved to support this column additions without any disruption?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ramon,
Thank you for the detailed write-up.
To summarise what you're asking for:
- Make sure that tables with unsupported columns don't fail when DDL changes occur (even if these columns aren't replicated) and prevent a historic sync.
We have logged this as a feature request and will discuss this with product/engineering
We will come back to you once we have more clarity on workarounds or engineering solutions.
Best regards,
Edwin
