Dashboard Improvement: Channel Start and Full Refresh Completion Alerts in Fivetran HVR
AnsweredCurrent Limitation
Today, Fivetran HVR alerting is limited to the following options:
- Only Send Alerts on Errors and High Latency
- Send Alerts on Errors, Warnings, and High Latency
- Only Send Alerts on High Latency
These options do not provide visibility into operational lifecycle events, specifically:
- When a full refresh (bulk load) starts
- When a full refresh (bulk load) completes successfully
- When scheduled refresh jobs begin and end
As a result, customers must manually monitor the HVR UI (Events / Jobs) to track refresh progress and completion.
Requested Enhancement
Introduce configurable alert conditions for channel lifecycle events, specifically for full refresh and scheduled jobs, including:
New Alert Types
-
Channel / Job Start Alert
- Triggered when a full refresh or scheduled refresh job starts
- Includes channel name, location pair, job type (Full Refresh / Scheduled Refresh), and timestamp
-
Channel / Job Completion Alert (Success)
- Triggered when a full refresh or scheduled refresh job completes successfully
- Includes execution duration, number of tables processed, and final status
-
(Optional – Nice to Have)
Channel / Job Completion Alert (Completed with Warnings)- Separate notification when a job completes but with warnings
- Separate notification when a job completes but with warnings
-
Business Justification
- Eliminates the need for manual UI monitoring to confirm refresh execution
- Improves operational transparency for large‑scale migrations and scheduled refreshes
- Enables proactive communication with downstream teams upon refresh completion
- Critical for enterprise change windows, cutovers, and production refresh schedules
- Aligns HVR alerting with industry‑standard data platform observability

Hi Naresh,
Thank you for the detailed write-up.
To summarise what you're asking for:
Add configurable lifecycle alerts for HVR channels so that customers receive notifications refresh job start and refresh job completion.
We have logged this as a feature request and will discuss this with product/engineering.
We will come back to you once we have more clarity on workarounds or engineering solutions.
Best regards,
Edwin
