Connector Improvement: Reference Fields Support in Asana Connector
AnsweredSummary
Requesting support for syncing reference-type custom fields from Asana through the Fivetran Asana connector.
Description
The current Asana connector successfully syncs standard custom field types (e.g., text, number, enum), but reference-type custom fields are not currently supported. These fields are increasingly used in Asana to create structured relationships between tasks and other objects (e.g., linking tasks to records, entities, or internal resources).
Without support for reference fields, important relational context stored in Asana cannot be captured in downstream analytics environments.
Requested Functionality
-
Include reference-type custom fields in the Asana connector sync.
-
Expose the referenced object identifier (e.g.,
gid) in the warehouse. -
Optionally include additional metadata if available (e.g., name or type of referenced object).
Example structure:
task_id
custom_field_id
custom_field_name
reference_gid
reference_name (optional)
reference_type (optional)
Additional Context
Asana has expanded its data model to include more relational structures (via reference fields and other object links). Supporting these fields would allow Fivetran users to fully leverage these capabilities in downstream data systems.
