Connector Improvement: Jira Connector: Support collecting issues retrospectively, when access is extended to existing projects
AnsweredCurrent state:
- Imagine we have a connection to Jira and it's fetching projects and issues
- In Jira, on 2026-01-01 Jira admins extend the access of the credentials (that are used in the connection) to an existing project ABC, that existed there since quite a long time (e.g. since 2025-01-01)
- Fivetran connector continues fetching the data, includes the ABC project, but only the changes happened after 2026-01-01
- The issues and data modified before 2026-01-01 are not synced
- Result: incomplete data
Desired state:
- As soon as the access extended, connector detects there is a new project ABC added (e.g. using rest/api/3/project endpoint)
- The cursor for that ABC project is set to EPOCH, so that the missing issues from the very beginning are collected accordingly
Background:
- In our setup we have thousands of projects and we can't know which projects need to be added to the connection from the very beginning. The projects are added gradually (as this need to be approved) and we always missing the data from the past.

Hi Shukhrat,
This is a valuable idea for the Jira connector. The request to fetch historical issues when access is extended to existing projects has been added to our feature improvements backlog.
We will keep the community updated on this thread with any progress.
Thanks,
Frank
