Connector Improvement: Facebook Ads Connector Improvement
AnsweredHi there! Meta notified us that they are going to be deprecating Nielson DMA dimension from all of their reporting. This is a crucial dimension we use in one of our fivetran connector reports (dma field outlined here). They are moving to Comscore Markets and was wondering if Fivetran will be adding a new dimension to support this before Meta deprecates Nielson DMA in June 2026? Ideally Fivetran can conduct the mapping between Comscore Market and Nielson DMA so we can continue using the same field without changes while also having a standalone comscore market field.
Thank you!

Hi Sandeep and Stephen,
Quick update on this to share our plan for addressing these changes for Meta:
- We'll create a new demographics_comscore_market_daily prebuilt report table to replace the existing demographics_dma_daily prebuilt report that relies on the DMA breakdown. We'll add the new report first and plan for the demographics_dma_daily to be discontinued in June 2026.
- Add support for the comscore_market breakdown in custom reports
- Add a new product_catalog table fetched via
GET /{ad_account_id}/product_catalogs. This will enable a join between campaign_history.promoted_object_product_catalog_id and product_catalog.id. Fivetran users can filter campaigns by vertical = 'vehicle_offers' to identify automotive campaigns. This is not important if Meta is deprecating DMA for all campaigns (which it sounds like they are), but it'll ensure users are covered if they need to identify automotive campaigns specifically.
I can't give detailed timelines, but we plan to get started on these changes soon and have them ready well before June to give users time to migrate.
Let me know if you have questions.
Cheers,
Luke -
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for flagging this. I don't see any mention of this by Meta in their API docs or release notes. We'd need a new API breakdown from them to properly map the DMA to the Comscore Market values. We can't rely only on that table you provided.
Did Meta share any documentation about this change with you that we could reference?
Thanks,
Luke -
Hello
We also have a similar situation - all our facebook ads connections in fivetran sync a custom report with dma breakdown. What will happen to those reports once meta deprecates/removes dma based reporting. Is fivetran aware of this upcoming change - https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2026/03/13/transitioning-from-nielsen-dma-to-comscore-markets-for-automotive-model-ads/ ?

More context - looking at facebook ads insights API I see `comscore_market` as a breakdown
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/reference/ad-campaign/insights/
However when I go to create a custom report in a facebook ads connection, I don't see `comscore_market` as an option - i see `dma`.

Hi Sandeep,
Thanks for sharing that article. We'll add support for the missing comscore_market breakdown. It sounds like Meta is targeting June 2026 for this migration to be completed, so I expect that the Nielsen DMA breakdown will remain in the API until at least then. You should be able to create new custom reports using the comscore_market breakdown and migrate downstream reporting to use those by then.I'll keep you posted on the new breakdown, but we'll prioritize it to ensure you have time to complete this migration.
Based on that link Sandeep shared, it looks like this only impacts automotive model ads. Stephen and Sandeep, I'm curious whether you're both running those types of ads? It seems other ad types wouldn't be impacted.
Cheers,

Hi! This was what we received from our account manager at Meta, seemed like it would apply more broadly than automative model ads:
Later this year we will stop offering Nielsen’s Designated Market Area (DMA) targeting and reporting solutions, and Comscore Markets®, which we first launched last August, will serve as the replacement solution. I’m including timeline information below and you’ll see that the last day Nielsen DMA information will be available is June 22, 2026.This transition is part of our strategy to offer partner solutions that meet our advertisers’ performance and measurement needs and are sustainable and scalable for the long term.Timeline:-
On April 20, 2026, it will no longer be possible to create new campaigns with Nielsen DMA targeting.
-
On June 22, 2026, Nielsen’s DMAs will be removed from all Meta targeting and reporting solutions.
-
All existing campaigns using Nielsen DMAs for targeting will stop delivering and will need to be updated with the relevant Comscore Markets replacement before the campaign can be restarted.
-
Meta’s MMM data (both export from Ads reporting and via API) will switch from Nielsen DMA to Comscore Markets®.
-
Nielsen DMAs will be removed from Ads Manager reporting, Insights API, and Advanced Analytics.
If desired, advertisers should take action to retrieve historical Nielsen DMA data from reporting tools prior to June 22, 2026. -

Thanks for sharing, Stephen. That is very helpful context. I wish Meta would help us all out and post this somewhere public :)
We'll plan for it, assuming it applies to all ad types. I've added this to our backlog, and we'll prioritize it to ensure Fivetran users have time to migrate downstream workflows before June.

As Stephen mentioned, the timeline is earlier than June. Meta will stop allowing targeting by dma in April - I would think this means any new customers won't show up in dma based custom report tables. We would need comscore_market based breakdown to get reporting on those customers
