Connector Improvement: Automatic destination documentation
AnsweredHello,
We currently use SAP4Hana connector. Our destination - Big Query - supports table and column descriptions that are well documented by the source. Exhaustive documentation is available for example here: https://www.erpexplorer.com/sap/s4/table/ACDOCA
Putting table and column descriptions as well as other metadata possibly like primary keys or table relations using check tables will make our data more documented and friendly to data analysts.
It will also enable agentic workflows that benefit from available data documentation.
Is it possible to implement this feature?

Hi Alexander,
This is a known requirement and something we’ve already identified as a feature improvement.
That said, implementing it would require changes not only at the connector level, but also in the processing layer and the data writer. This makes it significantly more impactful and harder to plan in the near term.
We’ll use your request to help prioritize and give this enhancement greater weight internally.
Alternatively, you can generate the table and field comments yourself by replicating the SAP Dictionary tables (DD02L, DD02T, DD03L, DD03T). We have documentation available outlining how to join and use these tables correctly.
Best regards,
Edwin
