Other: Support for period(.) in the First & Last Name of Create User API

User APIs should be able to support period(.) while onboarding users on Fivetran. There are users in our system who have period(.) in their names, for example, J.C. Molet or Roshah C.S Nomo. While onboarding these users on Fivetran, the API call returns 400 Bad Request as input validations reject period(.) in the First Name or Last Name field.

    This is a valuable idea and we've added support for periods in the First and Last Name fields for the Create User API to our feature improvements backlog. To help us better understand your requirements, could you share more about the challenges this limitation causes for your onboarding process or downstream systems?

    Hi Amanda,

    Thank you for looking into this. The biggest challenge that we see here due to this limitation is that there are many users within our organization who have special characters in their name. While opening up this ticket, I was only aware of period(.) but after digging more into the ldap directory, I figured out that there are other special characters as well in the name such as

    1. `'` - 124 people (already supported by Fivetran)

    2.  `,` - 1 people

    3. `(` and `)` - 28 people

    4. `-` - 180 people (already supported by Fivetran)

    5. `.` - 24 people

    We've added this item to our long-term backlog.  Additionally, we are looking into whether we can support commas and parentheses as well.  We will let you know here when we have an update.
