Connector Improvement: Support for Veeva Vault Direct Data API with Expanded Object Coverage
AnsweredWe request that Fivetran enhance the existing Veeva Vault connector to support Veeva's Direct Data API (https://developer.veevavault.com/directdata/#direct-data-api), enabling access to critical data objects that are currently unavailable through the standard connector.
Veeva’s communications are encouraging customers and partners to move toward Direct Data API for scalable, efficient extracts.
According to the documentation: "In v24.1+, this API supports the extraction of Vault objects, document versions, picklists, workflows, and audit logs." which are the objects that are currently missing or incomplete in the available connector.
Business Need
Our organization requires comprehensive data extraction from Veeva Vault to support complete analytics and compliance reporting. The current Fivetran connector has gaps in coverage, preventing us from accessing essential operational and audit data.
Missing Critical Data Objects
The following key data objects are not currently available through the existing connector:
- Workflows
- Groups
- Audit Trail Report

Hey Marta,
Abdul from the Product team here. Thanks for submitting this - really helpful context on the Direct Data API and the specific objects you need (Workflows, Groups, Audit Trail).
We recently launched our Veeva Vault connector and are actively adding improvements based on customer feedback like this. I'll get this prioritized and added to our roadmap, will keep you posted on timing as things develop.
Quick question - we're also working on supporting unstructured document content extraction (PDFs, DOCX, images) from Vault. Would that be useful for your team? Thinking NLP, document classification, that kind of thing.
I'll email you separately so we can stay connected outside the portal too.
Thanks,
Abdul -
Hi Abdul,
Thank you for your quick response and for considering this enhancement for your roadmap—I appreciate your openness to customer feedback. Supporting the Direct Data API and expanding object coverage would significantly help us avoid further development and maintenance of custom-built solutions.
Regarding your question on unstructured document extraction: that does sound potentially useful, especially as we continue to explore NLP and document analytics initiatives. I’ll connect with our internal teams to determine if there’s a concrete business need for extracting unstructured content (PDFs, DOCX, images) from Vault, and will share more details once I have their feedback.
For now, our top priority is gaining access to data via the Direct Data API.
Thanks again for your support!
Best regards,
Marta
