Other: Pre-sync MAR cost estimation for re-syncs
AnsweredHi Fivetran Product Team,
We’d like to request a feature to estimate expected MAR impact before triggering a re-sync on a table- or connection- level.
Problem:
When re-enabling previously synced tables and running a historical re-sync, we currently see a warning that “updates or inserts will be charged,” but there is no way to know ahead of time how many rows will be counted as new/updated. Support confirmed there is no dry-run or API to preview how many rows a table- or connection-level resync will write.
Request:
- "Dry run" / "estimate MAR for re-sync" button on schema or resync dialog, and/or
- An API endpoint that returns estimated rows to be inserted/updated for a chosen re-sync scope.
Business impact:
We manage multiple Shopify connections and periodically need to re-sync large historical tables, add new tables, disable and re-enable old tables etc. Without an estimate, it’s difficult to decide on whether to re-sync now vs. later, communicate cost risk internally and forecast monthly spends.
Even a rough preview (e.g., "expected new/updated rows range" or "estimated MAR") would improve planning and reduce surprise costs. Thanks for considering this!

Ekaterina,
Thank you for your request. We will investigate whether this is something we can support. Curious to learn if there are other stats in the source that track new data or updated data that can be used for the estimate.
Thanks!
Shira
