New Connector: Yugabyte
AnsweredWe're planning on going multi-cloud-provider and the platform team is strongly considering Yugabyte to provide a single persistence layer. The data team likes the simplicity of fiveTran piping into our Snowflake-based DW.
Yugabyte has a Postgres-frontend, but Support indicates that connecting fiveTran to Yugabyte is not as reliable as other connectors.

Hi Brent,
Kevin from the Product team here! In general, for different database types we create specific integrations for them, unless the two databases are exactly binary compatible, such as MySQL/MariaDB.
While Yugabyte is based on Postgres, there may be underlying differences in the log format, column structure, etc. that may cause issues when trying to connect with our existing connector. One example of potential differences is between MongoDB and DocumentDB, which areĀ very similar, but would not be interchangeable with our current connectors.
As such, we can definitely evaluate Yugabyte as a new connector feature request on the roadmap, however, as the Support team mentions, there is no guarantee our Postgres connector will fully support Yugabyte.
