Other: HVR support binary log reader

We have been using HVR for On Prem Oracle → Snowflake data movement. One of the vendor systems from which extract Oracle data has started adding columns in their tables with names that exceed 30 characters in length. This poses a problem for us because Oracle GoldenGate license is required to leverage table-level supplemental logging for such tables mentioned above.
 
Fivetran SAAS contains a new Oracle Binary Log Reader, which removes the need for table-level supplemental logging. Can a similar functionality be implemented in HVR?

    Thanks for your question.

    Have you considered using the binary log reader for your database? If not, can you please clarify why not?

    I'd like to think that using the managed service is much less effort for you compared to managing self-hosted HVR.

    Hi Mark,

    It is not clear if our contract will allow us to use Fivetran SAAS. Furthermore, we are concerned by the potential amount of work required to retool from HVR to Fivetran SAAS. We have already invested a ton of effort upskilling our team on HVR.
