Connector Improvement: Pinterest Daily analytics app_type dimension

We are missing app_type (e.g. mobile, tablet, web) grain with daily pin analytics. Currently everything is at app_type = ALL grain. Here response from Fivetran support:

The underlying Pinterest v5 Analytics endpoints do support the app_types query parameter, but the current Fivetran implementation always requests the default (ALL) view to stay within the 90-day window and minimise API calls.  
 
  – Because the response payloads therefore have no app_types dimension, the connector’s ERD and destination schema were designed without it.

We rely on this grain for our analytics and would like to see it added to the Fivetran Pinterest connector too.

    Hi Jonas,

    Luke from the Product team here. Thanks for submitting this feature request!

    I think the response you got from our support team was misleading. We include a field called device_type in the PIN_ANALYTICS_REPORT table. The possible values for this field are mobile, web, or tablet. We pass these same values to the API for the app_type parameter to retrieve the full dataset.

    I'm not sure why this field is called device_type in our schema instead of app_type. I assume that it was previously called device_type in the API, and rather than cause a breaking change for customers when the API changed, Fivetran decided to keep the old name. I'll add a task to our backlog to rename this field.

    However, in the meantime, you should be able to get the breakdown you're looking for using the device_type column in the PIN_ANALYTICS_REPORT table.

    Thank you Luke for response.

    We are working with a Pinterest Organic (Lite) connector, this is where we were missing the app_type/device_type grain. I do see the mentioned table under Pinterest Ad Connector. However, Ad connector does not contain organic metrics.

    Thanks for clarifying that this relates to the Pinterest Organic connector. I assumed it was Pinterest Ads. I'm going to reassign this internally to the Product Manager who manages that connector, and he'll follow up with you.
