CompletedAtlassian has recently release a Service Account user where it is not tied to any actual user and does not need a password to login to the organization. More details on this article.

Fivetran needs to support using Service Account in setting up JIRA connector and be able to provide a granular/basic list of permission scope to efficiently and safely use the connector.

Hi everyone,
Support for Atlassian JIRA Service Account users is now live and generally available in the JIRA connector. You can configure the connector using a Service Account and specify permission scopes for safer and more efficient access.
For implementation details and requirements, refer to our documentation and the latest release notes.
Thank you for your feedback and patience as we worked on this improvement.
Thanks,

Hi Amiel,
We will look into support for this. Taking a quick look at the documentation I believe basic authentication should work the same way with service accounts. Let me know if you are still having trouble using basic authentication with a service account.

Hi Frank,
Yes this is still an issue.
Sudheer Kumar from product support team assisted us on troubleshooting the issue and found out that it is still not supported.
Thanks,
Amiel
