Connector Improvement: ADO - Track Work-Item Updates
AnsweredHi team,
We wanted to track updates/revisions happening on every type of work-item over period of time. One of the APIs providing this is https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/azure/devops/wit/updates/list?view=azure-devops-rest-7.1&tabs=HTTP. This improvement will help stakeholder to understand the details of a work-item at any point in time which in-turn will help in identifying bottlenecks at different stages of its lifecycle.

Hi Pransh,
Thank you for raising this request. This looks to be very valuable use case.
We will analyze this and see if we can implement History Mode for WORK_ITEM table which will track changes on work items.
I will keep you posted when we take it up.
Thank You,
Vishal

Hi Vishal,
I am just wondering if there is any update on this feature request.

Hi Pransh,
We have been analyzing this and came across similar use case endpoint i.e. Work Item Revision Report.
Do you think this serves your use case or add value to it ?
Thank You,
Vishal

Hi Vishal, the endpoint shared by you do look promising. I wanted to check on couple of thing here - 1. will custom fields changes will be tracked or only system fields? 2. Will the data be flattened by Fivetran for easy filtering based on either revision number or time when the item was last modified?

Hi Pransh,
I will reach out to you directly via email to take this forward and update you here.
1. We can look into this - if api response provides each change as an individual record, or Fivetran can store using history mode.
2. We will flatten the system fields, and for the custom fields, they will be flattened at the first level.
Thank You,
Vishal
