Connector Improvement: Add Exchange Data to Shopify
AnsweredThe Shopify connector syncs order, return, and refund data. However, it does not capture product exchanges when they happen within the same order number.
In Shopify, when a product is exchanged (instead of refunded), the replacement item is added as a new line item in the same original order, often with an updated fulfillment status. This behavior is not currently exposed clearly in the Fivetran schema.
Please enhance the Shopify connector to identify and extract exchange activity, including:
-
New line items added post-fulfillment (exchanged products)
-
Metadata or flags indicating a line item is a replacement for another
-
Link between the original returned item and its replacement
-
Updated timestamps for when the exchange occurred
-
Any price difference adjustments

Hi,
Thank you for the detailed feature request — it's a thoughtful suggestion that touches on an important gap in visibility around exchange activity. At this time, we need to investigate further whether Shopify’s API surfaces this level of detail clearly enough to support it reliably through our connector. If you’re open to it, I’d be glad to better understand your use case and walk through what you’re expecting to see.
Feel free to schedule some time with me using [my calendar link] so we can explore this together.
Best,
Sandeep
