We're considering migrating from our existing ETL solution to Fivetran. However, we were disappointed to learn that Fivetran only support OAuth authentication, and not API tokens. This means tokens that we could previously use for Basic and Bearer authentication are not support in Fivetran.

This is painful, as OAuth requires having a dedicated user in the source system - which in many cases comes with an additional cost. If we wish to avoid the additional cost for a "service account" on the source system, and instead use an existing user - we're exposed to future breakage as people move on from organisations.

The ability to use API tokens and credentials for source systems that support them would be a massive improvement of Fivetran's capabilities.
