Other: HVR6: hvralertmanager scheduling
Currently there is a 2 step process to setting up the alerts where the initial step is to setup a an alert config (for Slack/Email etc) on the GUI but we have to use CLI commands to add a cron job for the hvralertmanager to actually send those alerts to their respective channels.
Ideally, this functionality can be added to the GUI as well and it makes little sense to "separate" these 2 processes.

Hi Harish,
The reason why these steps are separate is because scheduling the alert manager must be performed at the OS level. The alert manager must send notifications if/when HVR does not work, so fundamentally it cannot be part of HVR.
Of course we could build the OS integration. In HVR 5 we had some of this but it did not work very well. HVR is certified to run on multiple operating systems and versions that each behave subtly differently for scheduling. Add that the HVR user would need the privileges to create the schedules. For now we have opted to keep the scheduling of alerts outside of the HVR product to allow customers flexibility.
Hope this clarifies.
Mark.
