Connector Improvement: Keyword Planner reporting for the Google Ads connector
Not plannedIs it possible to configure our Google Ads connector to utilize the Google Ads API and the planning service KeywordPlanIdeaService.GenerateKeywordHistoricalMetrics to create a table in our Snowflake google_ads schema?
Essentially, we need a table that contains data from the Google Ads API similar to the table in the attached pdf. Specifically, the table would contain "search volume" metric by city and week/month.

Hi Scott,
Luke from the Product team here. Thanks for submitting this feature request.
We analyzed this request. It's not something we have planned for now. We'll continue to track this request and if there is more interest we'll revisit it.
Here are the limitations that make it difficult to get this data at scale:-
It requires explicit keyword declaration. Users would need to enter keywords they want to analyze, keywords. Those keywords may not be present in the current account, leading to confusing results.
-
The endpoint doesn’t allow region segmentation. API allows us to enter geo_target, but we receive an aggregated result in the response. In order to get data for specific regions we need to request it one by one. In your use case, every city in the US.
-
Search volume is by month only and only updated once per month.
-
Quota 1 request per second per account: https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/best-practices/quotas#planning_services. They would cause significant delays in trying to retrieve this data.
Cheers,
Luke -
