    Hi Laura and Will,

Thanks for submitting this request. We don't have this feature planned at this time. However, your feedback is crucial to help us collect customer demand to justify the commitment to build & maintain this feature. Every upvote on this request increases the case to build it.

I was hoping to get more details to help me better understand your request. I absolutely understand the need to have a user to have an intermittent need to sync the connector. Is this typically a permission needed for a defined time period as opposed to having a more permanent permission? Would you be open to sharing the use case driving this request?

    Thank you again,
    Meera

We have teams that need the autonomy for syncing integrations sporadically or on-demand without creating potential risk of them modifying the connection details.

I agree with this -- the user journey is:

    1. We have some app set up to sync overnight because it's a big app (e.g. Oracle Fusion). We don't want to increase the frequency since the snowflake load is high in order to run this.
    2. Business partner in Finance is writing up a query in Snowflake and discovers around Noon that some process in Oracle didn't run properly and some data are missing. He reruns the process and fixes the data, but the CEO wants the report done by EOD and the data in Snowflake are stale.
    3. Business partner wants to trigger a new sync to export the tables into Snowflake.
    4. The Data Platform Team would like to not be required to initiate this sync. But, the data platform would prefer not to give edit access to the connector because the user could accidentally enable 650 additional tables and bill a ton of unnecessary MAR (users do weird things to try and fix problems).
    5. Hence the data team would like to grant permissions to the user of "Connnector Read Only" + "run the sync now" without "edit any schema on connector."

This is likely an ongoing need e.g. the user might need to do this quarterly. We could likely allow on-demand via an external tool like airflow as an alternative, but this would be handy to have as an option via fivetran.
