I kindly request the addition of an optional field in the Fivetran Connector UI specifically for the Snowflake Connector to directly specify the Snowflake Warehouse. Currently, the connector defaults to the user's specific default warehouse, and introducing the ability to choose the warehouse at the connector level would significantly enhance our setup.

Why This Matters: In our current setup, our focus revolves around a chargeback model, necessitating the segregation of Snowflake usage by warehouse across all data layers. We have established distinct roles and warehouses for various departments and sub-departments within Snowflake, each with its unique resource allocations. The current default behavior, which relies on the user's warehouse, compels us to create separate users for each warehouse, introducing unnecessary complexities into our workflow.

Use Case Example: Consider the following real-world scenario:

• User: "RAW_SERVICE_ELT_FIVETRAN_USER"
• Default Role: "RAW_SERVICE_ELT_FR"
• Default Warehouse: "RAW_SERVICE_ELT_WH"
• Secondary Roles (All Department-Specific Roles and Role-Specific Warehouses):
  • FINANCE_RAW_SERVICE_ELT_AR -> FINANCE_RAW_SERVICE_ELT_WH
  • LEASING_RAW_SERVICE_ELT_AR -> LEASING_RAW_SERVICE_ELT_WH
  • MARKETING_RAW_SERVICE_ELT_AR -> MARKETING_RAW_SERVICE_ELT_WH
  • OPERATIONS_RAW_SERVICE_ELT_AR -> OPERATIONS_RAW_SERVICE_ELT_WH
  • PEOPLE_RAW_SERVICE_ELT_AR -> PEOPLE_RAW_SERVICE_ELT_WH

The challenge arises because Fivetran defaults to the user's warehouse, complicating our efforts to maintain a streamlined chargeback model for efficient resource utilization. Currently, we've resorted to creating multiple users for each role, a workaround that may become complex as we expand, especially considering subsidiary-specific chargeback models, where we might have 100 plus subsidiaries.

Impact on Business Efficiency: Implementing this proposed feature would significantly enhance our operational efficiency and resource management. Given our limited resources dedicated to the data platform landscape, reducing the need to create and manage multiple users for each role would streamline our efforts and contribute to a simplified and scalable data platform setup.

Note: DBT and POWER BI currently have the ability to use a single user for multiple warehouses through their respective roles.
