Connector Improvement: Shopify MetaObject Support

Hello,

I have noticed that Fivetran might not be supporting Shopify metaObejct information attached to the value in the metafield table.

 

example:

In this image you can see when a value is referenced like 'Collection' there is a corresponding table and id I can use to pull information from that value field. It would be great if you could offer this feature for the Metaobject reference. Usually the Metaobject is a Json that contains more in depth information that is then referenced in the metafield. For example, what I am looking for here is to capture the json information stored for a product's nutrition. After looking online it appears that the only way to get access to this metaobject information is to work with Shopify's GraphQL API. I believe Fivetran uses the REST API from Shopify. It would be great if I could have this information centralized instead of having to figure out a separate ingestion flow for Shopify just to get this information.

    Hi Amanda - thanks for submitting this request!  We don't have this planned in the near term at this time. We will continue to collect customer demand to justify the commitment to support & maintain a high-quality Fivetran connector. Every upvote on this request increases the case to build it.

    This is very much needed, but still have not heard back from fivetran on any update for this.

    Given this doesn't seem prioritized, I was able to find a work around using Portable.io Shopify GraphQL connector. They can create a great metaobject pipeline for you if you reach out to them!
