Connector Improvement: external_id attribute in salesforce marketing cloud connector
AnsweredIn our Salesforce Marketing Cloud UI, we see a column called "external ID". Unfortunately, this column does not appear to be one that fivetran syncs to our destination. I'd like to request that it be added to the sync. I _think_ its part of the JOURNEY object. Its the second column from the left in the below screenshot.

Hi Paul, Luke from the Product team here!
I don't see an external_id or something similar in Salesforce's documentation for the JOURNEY object. It also appears we have all the IDs listed for this object in our schema.
Could you share more info about how you're using the external key? That might help us determine how to retrieve this value from the API.
Thanks,

Lucas, thanks for your questions and I'm sorry its taken so long to get back to you. I've asked the folks who use SFMC about the external key column and I got some info; but I'm afraid its not much.
First off, this in on the TRIGGERED_SEND object, not the JOURNEY object as I had said earlier. Though when I look at the API doc for triggered send, I didn't see an external key there either. However, when I search around the SFMC docs about external key, I do get a lot of information about "data extensions". Perhaps thats what this is? I know nearly nothing about SFMC and am sure at fivetran you all have at least a few people who are SFMC experts!
The SFMC user here tells me that the external key column is populated automatically (which makes sense since it looks like its unique). Here is the quote:
Marketing cloud automatically adds that in! So it isn’t me. That field has always been in tracking and it populates new numbers for each email in the journey each time i launch a new journey. So I do not know where they come from or what the point of it is but I think it’s just always been in marketing cloud?
I know this isn't much to go on; but I'm hoping it might make sense to you.
If you have any suggestions about where to look in our SFMC setup, I'm very willing to listen and check.
