Connector Improvement: Secrets management for custom connector
AnsweredThere is nowhere to store secrets for custom connectors within fivetran at the moment. We had to store secrets outside. Is there a better approach to handling secrets passed to the source via the payload?

Hi Crystal,
Can you tell me more about the connector you were working with please and what you were trying?
We have 3 function connectors currently and they all allow you to enter secrets into the setup form. These secrets are passed to the function when the sync starts.
I'd love to understand where you were looking/what you were expecting so we can make our docs and discovery of this feature better.
Thank youAlison

We are working with a custom connector for google cloud function. There is no secrets management currently so we have to store our secrets outside of Fivetran after we set up the connector. Is there a better approach to handling secrets?

Hi Crystal,
Can you share more about what you mean by "secrets management", what sort of features are you looking for?
You can put any secrets into the element you shared a screenshot of.
We are working currently on enhancing the secret handling in our google cloud function connector so that you can enter multiple secrets separately and see the labels/secrets you have entered for a particular connector. Thanks again

Hi Alison,
That's perfect! The issue we are having right now is that we can't see the secrets we have entered for a connector. What we are hoping for is a place within fivetran where other teammates with access can also see the secrets entered for the connector.
Kind Regards,
Crystal
