Connector Improvement: Schema Change Settings - All new tables and columns
AnsweredAdd support for schema change settings that:
- block new schemas
- allow new tables in existing schemas
- allow new columns in new or existing tables
In our use case, schemas represent customers. We want only specific customers/schemas to automatically get changes in their schemas (new tables and columns). Currently, our only option is to "Allow all" where new schemas, tables, and columns are automatically added to the connector. This causes us to incur additional cost not just for Fivetran replication, but also for the target storage database. We have to manually cleanup/remove schemas that were automatically added.

Hi Onassis, thanks for the request and sorry for the delay! This is a unique request that we haven't seen before so I'm going to add this into the backlog and we'll prioritize accordingly. It sounds like this is primarily something that you're looking to achieve for cost management reasons - is that correct? How much effort do you incur with this manual cleanup? How often are you taking that action? Thanks so much for sharing!

Just came to raise this exact feature request. It would be very useful when we have a database used by multiple teams, where we don't want to sync every schema, but would want any new table within already selected schemas to be automatically picked up.

Hi Sam,
Thank you for adding to this request and sharing your use case. The feature is still on our backlog, and getting upvotes from existing customers will help us make the case for it.
Thanks,
Alison
