New Connector: Tableau Online
Not plannedIf you run your own Tableau Server you have the workgroup PostgreSQL as a data dictionary to answer questions about usage. If you use the hosted version Tableau Online, this is not available and the options available are very limited. You only have 2 datasources about events and users with only 90 days of history. Tableau offers a REST API to query Tableau Online (and also Tableau Server) about metadata and usage data.
For example a list of all objects stored within Tableau Online and their metadata. A list of extract job schedules, subscriptions, alerts etc. This would help to optimize the setup and to provide meaningful reports that help other users to better find relevant content for them.
I know that many Tableau Online Administrators are looking for such data. And Tableau Online is a very popular service. Therefore, I'd appreciate if you consider a connector for this.

Hi Dominik, Sam from the Product Team here - thanks for submitting this very detailed request! Unfortunately, We don't have this planned at this time. Have you looked into using a cloud function to bring in Tableau data into your data warehouse? In the meantime, we will continue to collect customer demand to justify the commitment to support & maintain a high-quality Fivetran connector. Every upvote on this request increases the case to build it.
Best,
Sam Dawit

Highly interested from our side.
thanks and best regards

I love this idea. I've implemented a few custom solutions for customers to query the tableau api with graphql to get all of the site metadata. It is a complicated solution compared to what fivetran can offer.

I'd buy 5tran just for this feature

I highly recommend this idea!

I have a custom python library I wrote to pull down daily snapshots of the Admin Insights data sources for these Tableau usage stats. I would love to deprecate that in favor of a Fivetran connector.
