You want to disable change tracking (CT)/change data capture (CDC) for a table in order to make a Data Definition Language (DDL) change. After adding, deleting, or changing the data type of a column, you want to re-enable CT/CDC.
We recommend that you make a DDL change before Fivetran replicates the table.
NOTE: Fivetran can not replicate a table when CT or CDC is disabled.
After table replication, DDL changes are lost if they are made while CT or CDC is disabled. On the next sync update, Fivetran detects that the change tracking snapshot/version is invalid and automatically re-syncs the table. If you are seeing a discrepancy, manually re-sync the table to ensure data integrity.
