Question
I am using Fivetran’s Basic Transformations and I'm interested in transforming the data in some form or fashion in my destination. Should I create views?
Answer
There are many advantages to creating views over creating new tables in your destination.
A view is a virtual table that consists of rows and columns, just like a table. If the data is changing in the underlying table in the data source, the same change is reflected in the created view.
A view can be built on top of a single table or multiple tables; it can also be built on top of another view.
One huge advantage to creating views is the storage space it saves in your destination, as views do not store actual data. So when creating Transformations, consider creating views rather than creating tables.
