Use Case
You are considering using Fivetran Log data but aren’t sure which option is best for your use case. You are deciding between accessing this data in your destination using the Fivetran Log Connector or using an external logging service.
Recommendations
Fivetran Logs provide extremely useful metadata about all of your connectors, syncs, and statuses that allow you to diagnose your own issues, track usage, and monitor Fivetran performance. There are two options for where this logging data lands, each supports a different use case for how you plan to use this data:
Data will be delivered to your destination warehouse where you can access and query it just like you would other data that Fivetran syncs. This is optimal for:
- Reporting
- Analytics
- Ad Hoc Investigations
Data will be synced directly to an external service designed for collecting these types of event data. Syncing data to an external service is optimal for:
- Active Monitoring
- Alerting
